Music and Arts
Regina Christian School offers choir for students in grade 2 to 8. Our choir members have an interest in sharing their talents, showing God’s love and blessing others through song.
Each week, students meet to practice and learn various songs and voice techniques. During the school year, the elementary choir is given opportunities to perform at various assemblies and events such as corporate chapel, the Rotary Christmas Choral Festival, CTV Regina Holiday Special, the RCS Grandparent’s Tea, the Pastoral Lunch and in the Moose Jaw music festival. In addition to these events, the choir may also perform at pep rallies and in retirement homes.
High School Choir
Regina Christian School has two high school choirs and both choirs are offered as an elective with a credit. The Concert Choir is open to anyone in grades 9 through 12. This choir is a developing choir which focuses on some basic techniques for singing – breathing, pitch, enunciation and some basic musical theory (reading notes, dynamics, etc.). The Concert Choir performs on a limited basis in a supportive setting.
Select Choir is an honours choir that is only open to those selected by the choir director. Select Choir has a more challenging repertoire and performs regularly throughout the school year. Both choirs rehearse and perform outside the regular school day. The two choirs go on a five-day choir tour during the school year.
High School Broadway-Style Musical
Regina Christian School does an annual Broadway show in May. This is an extra-curricular event which is open to anyone in the high school. There are usually around 80 high school students involved. We do a four night run of performances with a live orchestra. Our past shows include Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, The Music Man and many others. The staff and students involved strive to produce a quality show that the kids are happy to invite their friends and family to.
